About The Position

Acts as lead and coordinates the office activities and requests for patient and internal transportation services during assigned shift. Dispatches and makes assignments to ensure services such as patient escort/transport, lab collection and other messenger services meet hospital needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred and
  • Qualified by education, training or experience to work, adolescence, adult, and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates Required

  • Minimum 1 year experience of experience working in a hospital setting Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Acts as lead person. Assists in coordinating daily transport and office activities to ensure efficient services and operations are provided and meet hospital needs. Keeps manager informed of department activities.
  • Responds to services and requests for transportation services, establishes priority to expedite services, dispatches and makes assignments for patient escort/transport, lab collection and other messenger services as required.
  • Communicates effectively and maintains positive, professional interaction with patients and staff.
  • Oversees transporter activities for compliance with work standards and established policies and procedures. Maintains a log of calls received and work assignments, recording required information.
  • Provides support to general offices operations to maintain an orderly environment; prepares and maintains required reports, and files; operates pneumatic tube station; receives, records and stores patient clothes and lost/found items.
  • Conducts training/orientation programs for transporters, patient escorts, and volunteers assigned to department in the function and operation of transportation services, procurement of equipment and supplies, and pneumatic tube system.
  • Performs transporter and patient escort duties as needed. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population.
  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control. Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment; report needed repairs to Manager.
