About The Position

The Crew Leader - Sanitation leads, supports, coordinates, and directs various crews in the performance of different tasks for the department. Support forestry and park maintenance operations, routine to complex street repair projects, and the operation and maintenance of lake spillway gates.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three (3) years of experience in heavy equipment operation (e.g., excavator, track/wheeled loader, bulldozer, motor grader, rotoboom).
• Some supervisory/leadwork experience.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years of experience operating a tractor-trailer plus one (1) year of heavy equipment operation (e.g., excavator, track/wheeled loader, bulldozer, motor grader, rotoboom) and some supervisory/leadwork experience will meet the experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, prepares, and issues daily work assignments for crewmembers; coordinates and delegates work to ensure successful completion; provides leadership and direction to ensure safety and technical standards are followed.
• Provides on-site job training and ensures proper, safe, and efficient work methods of crew members; resolves challenging issues and provides support for escalated incidents.
• Ensures, checks, and performs preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and general equipment cleaning.
• Operates a roto boom to collect bulky brush items set out by citizens in the City of Dallas.
• Handles and responds to citizens’ complaints or concerns to facilitate prompt and efficient solutions.
• Performs any and all other trades work as needed or assigned.
