About The Position

Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of products, parts, and materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions. Operates a hand truck, forklift, or other heavy equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Two year (Associates) degree from college or technical school and five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Forklift License

Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming and ships outgoing materials, products, or supplies.
  • Receives orders and reviews for proper codes and approval signatures.
  • Counts items received or shipped and checks against packing lists, recording any discrepancies.
  • Supplies work areas with materials
  • Delivers requested supplies to internal departments.
  • Uses a gas or electric powered forklift to load and unload, move or stack materials or products.
  • Stacks or piles materials in a safe manner at the specified locations.
  • Stocks delivered items and checks shelves for appropriate inventory levels.
  • Checks stock for outdated or damaged supplies
  • Maintains records, replenishes stock, and plans for future requirements based on orders, production schedules and forecasts.
  • Evaluates inventory levels and notifies purchasing agent when reorders are necessary.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Maintains inventory records and prepares reports.
  • Prepares receiving or shipping reports and notes any shortages or damages
  • Performs activities to monitor and maintain inventory control of merchandise or materials.
  • Performs daily cycle counts on inventory items and reports out come to management.
  • Research and analyses on cycle counts
  • Maintains Metrics on: bar code issues at window, line items received against purchase orders, daily fuel transactions, PCB Testing, field return transformers and the dollars that the city recoups for this scrap.
  • Supervises and oversees the daily work assignments for Inventory Warehouse Workers and temporary workers assigned to inventory control.
