About The Position

The UCCIE Crew Lead position is a training program for corpsmembers to gain leadership experience in order to become a crew supervisor. Crew Leads will learn how to provide guidance and leadership to corpsmembers enrolled in the Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire. The Crew Lead must have a passion for working with young adults and a commitment to helping them. Crew Leads are expected to be field teachers in training that supervise and help youth or young adults build social, life and job skills that help them become successful in life and help them build positive attitudes toward work.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a conservation corps, public land management or a related field that manages similar participants
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working with diverse young adults (18-26 years of age), as well as young adults that are or have been involved in the justice system
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to resolve conflicts
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with community-based agencies (non-profits), services and resources
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage priorities
  • Strong initiative, good work ethic, and desire to advance the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and plus if knowledgeable in Google applications (Docs, Sheets, etc)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Completion of a defensive driver training certification (provided by SCMF)
