Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL with a good driving record.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and safety guidelines with one year of experience working on an asphalt and/or concrete crew.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude in math.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work weekends and occasional nights.
  • Ability to travel to various worksites.
  • Ability to work long hours and in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, maintains and trains crew members to prepare flatbed each morning including gathering all necessary tools, materials and equipment needed for the job(s).
  • Ensures broken tools are fixed or replaced before leaving yard and accounted for before leaving jobsite.
  • Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle, trailer and equipment inspections and completes driver's checklist in Fleetio.
  • Sets up signs, cones, etc. on the jobsite, and/or instructs crew on how to complete set up.
  • Loads and unloads equipment in a safe manner by always utilizing the help of a second person, and ensures equipment is correctly secured on trailers.
  • Performs all aspects of job, including general labor duties as needed; trains others in all aspects of the job.
  • Assumes responsibility for crew if Foreman is not available, including completing all related electronic paperwork via Field Services/Dynamics and Workforce Go (HCMtoGo).
  • Allows only properly trained employees to operate equipment when necessary.
  • Provides materials' tickets to the Foreman daily so Foreman can complete their work.
  • Practices safe driving skills in all operating conditions (including "4 second rule") following all vehicular safety regulations and consistently using spotters.
  • Recognizes mechanical issues as they develop with engine, brakes and electrical systems and takes action when necessary to shut down and secure the machine to avoid additional damage; reports maintenance needed and/or any damage to their Superintendent, Foreman and Shop Foreman.
  • Ensures vehicle and/or equipment is maintained; cleans vehicle and/or equipment to include spraying down when needed and practices good housekeeping.
  • Ensures vehicle and/or equipment is fueled each night.
  • Ensures compliance and personally follows all safety rules and regulations (including flagging, truck and equipment operations, etc.) and practices preventative safety measures; wears required PPE.
