About The Position

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. As a Crew Foreman at Oncor, you'll plan, lead, organize, and control operational, maintenance and construction activities of transmission related facilities to ensure safe and reliable operation of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) bulk power transmission grid and the power delivery system. This position uses independent judgement while participating in discussions with their line management and others involving employee processes and actions such as rewarding, promoting, approving time off requests, evaluating employees' performance, and discipline.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 7+ years' experience in construction and maintenance of transmission lines and substation facilities.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Outlook and Word.
  • Strong leadership and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic electrical theory and ability to interpret AC and DC control circuit diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in electrical technology.
  • Valid class A CDL Driver's license or the ability to acquire one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and coordinate the work of others.
  • Establish a safe work environment for employees, customers, and the public by following and enforcing established safety guidelines.
  • Monitor time sheets of crew members to ensure accurate time reporting.
  • Assume accountability and exercise initiative to effectively communicate and coordinate with immediate supervisor and work group members to ensure efficient use of all related resources.

  • Comply with and enforce all Oncor policies and procedures, rules, and safe work practices.
  • Schedule and plan construction and maintenance projects in transmission switching stations, load serving substations, generation switchyards, transmission lines, and interconnection facilities with other companies.
  • Develop written work scopes and procedures to help ensure that operating, construction and maintenance activities are conducted in a safe manner without unnecessary risks to customers.
  • Schedule and perform maintenance in compliance with the Transmission and Substation Maintenance Guide, computer-based maintenance scheduler and the safety handbook.
  • Provide input on facilities and equipment upgrades and additions.
  • Interface with and build strong relationships with the Safety Representatives, Transmission Operations Support, Transmission Engineering, Power Plant Maintenance Groups, and local distribution personnel.
  • Develop moderate to strong computer skills to assist in the preparation and administration of work scopes, procedures, material procurement, electronic time keeping, substation and line load data, computer-based maintenance scheduler, equipment failure reports and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and maintain written procedures for emergency restoration including mobile transformer installation.
  • Utilize leadership skills by developing and presenting safety and job-related training.
  • Assume accountability and exercise initiative and resourcefulness in planning and scheduling material, personnel, equipment and other resources necessary for job initiation through completion.
  • Actively participate in employee reviews on performance progress relative to performance expectations.
  • Participate in investigations related to potential employee misconduct and policy or rule violations.
  • Willing and able to respond to routine and emergency call outs.
  • Able to navigate inside the Oncor Intranet and shared technology resources to access critical information.
  • Perform all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
