About the position
The Utility Foreman position is a full-time, non-exempt role that involves overseeing a crew and operating heavy equipment for various utility installation and excavation projects. The foreman will be responsible for managing a 3-4 man crew, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and communicating effectively with clients. The role requires physical fitness to perform manual labor in diverse environments and conditions.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, mini excavators, and skid-steers.
- Run a 3-4 man crew on a daily basis.
- Install utility pipe.
- Excavate for and build bioretention facilities, rain gardens, ponds, sediment basins, and other stormwater management facilities/BMP’s.
- Install underdrain on roadway projects.
- Complete other excavation needs per the request of clients.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant heavy equipment operating experience.
- Knowledge about trench safety, rigging safety, and different support of excavation techniques.
- Must be able to communicate directly with clients and manage crew members.
- Must have reliable transportation to the yard in Manassas, VA.
- Current and valid Driver’s License.
