About The Position

Do you possess expertise supervising and working with bridge maintenance crews? Pinellas County has your next career move!! Work required by this position is technical construction supervision, supervising maintenance and other labor or skilled tasks which include prioritizing and scheduling work, managing manpower, ordering material and inventory control. Computer work, including daily performance reports, is required. The employees currently in these positions perform a variety of field work. The work is heavy labor, and mostly outdoor work in all types of weather elements. The field work includes but is not limited to ditch cleaning, litter pickup, sidewalk grinding, sidewalk installation, stormwater pipe repair and installation, bridge repair, asphalt work, flagging traffic, guardrail repairs, removing dead animals, miscellaneous concrete work, emergency response crew work; inspecting pipes, structures and ditches, mowing, weed eating, landscaping, etc. This Crew Chief 2 (Sidewalk Repair) position is located at: 22211 US 19 North, Clearwater, FL. Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in public works, utilities, general construction, maintenance, or repair work.
  • Associate’s degree and 1+ year(s) of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with some relevant experience.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License Class B at time of hire.
  • Physically capable of climbing, lifting, and swimming.
  • Ability to work over, around, and near water at heights greater than 6 feet.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Florida Commercial Driver’s License 'A'.
  • Maintenance of traffic certifications (FDOT intermediate maintenance of traffic certification).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance and other labor or skilled tasks.

  • Perform asphalt work and flag traffic.
  • Conduct guardrail repairs and remove dead animals.
  • Perform miscellaneous concrete work and emergency response tasks.
  • Inspect pipes, structures, and ditches.
  • Mow, weed eat, and landscape.
