About The Position

The Crew Boat Operator position at ADM involves operating small passenger vessels on the Lower Mississippi River, ensuring safe transportation of passengers and supplies. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and effective communication while managing trips efficiently. The operator will work a rotating schedule of 5 days on, 5 nights on, followed by 5 days off, with 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Masters License of self-propelled vessels not including auxiliary sail of less than 100 GRT upon inland waters.
  • Must have a TWIC card.
  • Must have a USCG medical certificate.
  • Must have a marine radio operator permit.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate small passenger vessels.
  • Adhere to all provisions of the vessels Certificate of Inspection.
  • Assist supervisor with successful completion of USCG annual inspections.
  • Transport passengers and supplies from docks to destination including barge fleets, stevedoring cranes, and ships in berths.
  • Communicate effectively via VHF radio and vessel phone.
  • Manage trips efficiently.
  • Maintain all electronic required logs, records, and fuel readings.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Operate a computer as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vessel including washing, cleaning, and painting.
  • Work a swing shift at all listed locations.
  • Promote safety and complete all required safety training.
  • Assist supervisor and mechanics on vessel service and repair.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues aboard the vessel.
  • Perform other duties as designated by management.
