About The Position

The Scarsdale Public Schools are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual who exhibits a love of learning and a genuine interest in the social, emotional, mental, and physical health of student-athletes. Applicants should demonstrate expert content knowledge and success in coaching Crew at the high school level. An ideal candidate will understand the benefits of an educational interscholastic athletic experience with a specific focus on player growth development. NYS certification in physical education or coaching license is required.

Requirements

• NYS certification in physical education or coaching license is required.
• Previous successful coaching experience in crew is necessary.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of crew and willingness to examine new theories and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated ability to instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
• Ability to upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the organization and supervision of a crew program.
• Prepare for scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times.
• Monitor student athletes' grades and conduct.
• Follow procedures concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
• Aid in the management and use of equipment and instill respect for equipment and school property.
• Serve as a mentor to promote character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
• Implement athletic policies approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education and ensure compliance by the sports program staff.
