About The Position

The Crematory Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and respectful operation of cremation equipment. This role ensures that all cremation procedures are conducted in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards, while providing compassionate and professional service to families. The operator must maintain accurate records, ensure equipment is in good working condition, and support funeral home operations as needed. While the position typically requires availability Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, flexibility for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts is also necessary to meet operational demands.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in a crematory, funeral home, or similar setting preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and experience operating equipment is a plus.
Certification in crematory operations may be required or must be obtained within a specified time frame.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. including deceased individuals when necessary.
Ability to stand, bend, twist, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Ability to work in a high-temperature environment during cremation processes.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both in person and over the phone, with the ability to listen and speak clearly.
Must be able to maintain regular, punctual attendance, including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and professionalism when interacting with bereaved families.
