About The Position

JOB SUMMARY:Perform and coordinate the daily credit and collection activities of assigned Empire Southwest customer accounts. Analyze and approve credit for new and existing customers on terms that are competitive and responsive to the customer's needs. Minimize bad debt losses without unduly jeopardizing potential sales. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Authorizes credit approvals for new and existing customers. Assigns credit rating to accounts and monitor for change when required. Works with Credit Manager to modify and/or update existing policies and procedures relating to customer-oriented credit transactions. Assists credit managers with research and reconciliation of troubled or difficult accounts. Performs collection duties (calls, letters, and account research) for an assigned portfolio. Assists Sales Department personnel in finalizing machinery sales, leases, rentals, etc. Emphasizes payment terms which best reflect the customer needs, competition, and marketing conditions, and provides a fair return to the company.Makes joint customer calls with salespeople to discuss innovative and competitive terms to assist in closing the sale. Attends and occasionally conducts seminars with salespeople to provide input and training to Empire personnel. Attends sales meetings to participate in informal discussions when requested. Develops and maintains credit files. Provides prompt responses to customer credit needs. Files UCC statements to protect Empire's security interest. Ensures legal documentation of credit files including corporate resolutions, partnership agreements, guarantees, etc., as required. Obtains sales tax exemption and casualty insurance when required. Collects on accounts, approves extensions, and revises obligations when appropriate. Recommends major changes in terms of obligation if warranted, including taking additional collateral, etc. Computes pay-offs, interest, and delinquent amounts due. Obtains data and/or prepares various management reports as required. Identifies potential problems and recommends corrective action. Represents management as directed at various company and customer meetings and functions. Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs general credit department duties and backup others in the department as needed (answer incoming calls, process applications, and trade references).Helps develop new credit management process and standards for the "Small Account" portfolio. Gives status of account when necessary. Conducts public sales when necessary. Works within and promotes corporate values.

Requirements

  • Must have interpersonal skills to professionally assist customers and employees in widely varied activities.
  • Must be able to analyze customer account information to correctly determine credit worthiness.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and improve the credit account collection system to efficiently manage credit receivables.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills as required in customer and inter-departmental contact.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in general business, finance, credit and/or accounting experience and/or education to perform credit and accounting responsibilities.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
