The Credit Risk Review Director maintains subject matter expertise in, and lead assessments of credit risk and credit risk management in the Company's Corporate and Investment Banking units, including leveraged finance, large corporates, and structured finance, including project finance and warehouse lending. The incumbent ensures potential weaknesses at the counterparty and/or portfolio level have been reported and an appropriate remediation plan is agreed to with the relevant stakeholders, and that risks and credit issues are properly reflected in both the local and global risk frameworks as necessary. They act as a mentor and provide coaching and assistance to less experienced team members as part of reviews and other activities. The Director assists the Executive/Senior Director with the development of the Annual Plan and with changes in Policy and Procedure. They conduct continuous monitoring Review activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field – Required.
  • 15+ years of banking experience, preferably within Credit Risk Management, Underwriting, or Originations – Required.
  • Strong knowledge of loan procedures, credit policies, and risk management frameworks.
  • Advanced credit analysis capabilities with a strategic, risk-focused mindset.
  • In-depth knowledge of loan and capital markets products, including derivatives, prime services, fund-linked products, repo, and securities lending.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience evaluating credit data, reporting, and tracking systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to executive audiences.
  • Excellent business writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and initiative in complex environments.
  • Effective interpersonal and diplomatic skills with the ability to influence and resolve conflict.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field – Preferred.
  • Experience in analyzing complex credit transaction structures including securitizations finance – Preferred.
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst): Finance certifications desired – Preferred.
  • Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite and offsite credit risk reviews to deliver independent assessments of credit quality and effectiveness of risk management practices across global portfolios.
  • Evaluate counterparty and transaction activities within Global Markets and Credit Risk functions to ensure compliance with internal policies, approvals, monitoring standards, and risk frameworks.
  • Identify and assess existing and emerging credit risks, including weaknesses in counterparties, transactions, and portfolio-level exposures, and ensure timely escalation to senior leadership.
  • Analyze risk rating accuracy, underwriting quality, credit approvals, monitoring practices, documentation, and credit administration processes to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Execute continuous and periodic risk-based review programs across U.S. portfolios, including transaction-level analysis and portfolio trend assessments by sector and industry.
  • Monitor assigned portfolios to ensure aggregate risk remains within appetite and reflects current market conditions, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level reports, presentations, and summaries for senior management, Board, and Risk Committee, clearly communicating findings and remediation plans.
  • Recommend and influence enhancements to credit policies, procedures, and systems, and lead or support review teams as Examiner in Charge when applicable.
