PIMCO is seeking an experienced Credit Research Analyst to join our team in either Newport Beach, CA or New York, NY. This role is pivotal as the analyst will cover Investment Grade and High Yield credits specifically within the financial sector. The Credit Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting in-depth analyses of various industries and the companies within them, ultimately making informed investment recommendations to PIMCO's portfolio managers group. This position requires a proactive approach to research and communication, as the analyst will need to highlight risks and provide analytical support to the firm's portfolio managers regarding specific companies. The analyst will engage in fundamental and relative value research on existing holdings, generating credit-driven investment ideas tailored to the financial sector. A key aspect of the role involves initiating discussions with portfolio managers to communicate investment ideas effectively and participating in group meetings to share insights. The analyst will also be tasked with producing comprehensive written reports, including company evaluations, quarterly updates, relative value analyses, and industry reviews. Responding to portfolio manager inquiries about credit concerns, market overviews, and sector changes will also be part of the responsibilities, along with interaction with clients or client service professionals. To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of 12 years of work experience in credit or equities research, whether on the buy or sell side. A completed MBA degree or CFA designation, along with relevant investment experience, is required. Prior experience covering issuers in the banking, broker, and specialty finance sectors is preferred, ideally with knowledge of statutory accounting and financial regulation. Strong financial modeling skills are essential, and candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct corporate analysis, including on-site visits and relative value analysis. The role demands a proactive mindset in generating successful investment ideas and the ability to advocate for these ideas to portfolio managers. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are crucial, as is the ability to collaborate effectively within the credit research and portfolio management team.
