About The Position

The Credit Reporting Technician I will work directly with Analysts and Specialists to respond to direct and indirect credit disputes, conduct credit reporting related research, and perform maintenance as needed to correct credit information transmitted to the credit bureau(s). Focus is on accuracy of furnished credit data, compliance with applicable lending regulations, and adequacy of documentation. The Technician should be detail oriented, be able to work independently, and possess good organizational skills. Duties 50% - Work proactively with the appropriate teams to investigate direct and indirect disputes and with other business units to investigate credit reporting related complaints. Must have an ability to investigate situations thoroughly and provide reports timely and completely. 30% - Credit Reporting Expertise – Develops a basic knowledge of federal and state lending regulations, the CDIA Guide, Metro2 reporting standards, and Credit Union lending policies, as related to furnishing and disputing credit data. 10% - Consultation - Assists with action plans related to credit reporting. 10% - Collaboration – Partners with appropriate team members throughout dispute investigations. Escalates and reports issues with transparency. Internal Relationships : Communication with branch, MSS, and business unit staff via email, internal chat, and phone. Interaction includes answering questions regarding credit reporting and dispute processing requirement along with impacts of procedural or policy changes on credit reporting. External and Vendor Relationships: Member interaction via phone providing status updates on disputes or answering question regarding the investigation. Communication with credit reporting agencies.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient using available resources to locate and acquire information regarding lending regulations, as well as Credit Union policies and guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Excel, Word, Access, and/or other computer databases preferred.
  • Must be willing to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently.
  • Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.
  • Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policies established by the Credit Union.
  • Must be willing to develop knowledge of laws, including FCRA, FACTA, GLB, BSA, ECOA, and UDAAP.
  • Must be able to use available resources to locate and acquire information regarding credit reporting and Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to carry out responsibilities within applicable deadlines.
  • Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be willing to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Must be able to collaborate with co-workers.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently.
  • Must adhere to work schedule established.
  • Must complete the SECU Core Module program within 12 months of hire.
  • Must be detail oriented, proficient in data entry and possess good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.
  • Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.
  • Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.
  • Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
  • Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
  • HS Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Business related
  • 1 year Relevant Experience
  • Prefer experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Prefer SECU servicing systems experience – 3270, OnBase, FDR, ICE/MSP
  • Ability to obtain CDIA Metro2 certification.
  • Should possess high attention to detail.
