About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Credit Policy Specialist. In this role, you will analyze complex regulatory and agency guidance and translate it into actionable policies that support our branches and corporate departments. Requirements

  • Experience: 4 years of relevant mortgage experience, with at least 2+ years specifically in underwriting, credit policy, scenario desk, loan processing, or mortgage operations manager.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe PDF Editor, and specialized tools including FHA Connection, WebLGY, and FraudGuard.
  • Strong understanding of Conventional, Jumbo, and Non-QM eligibility requirements and mortgage lending regulations.
  • Proven ability to research complex information, solve problems, and make sound business decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify technical jargon for a diverse audience

Responsibilities

  • Guide departments and branches nationwide on credit policy guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to policy inquiries via phone, email, Microsoft Teams, and our proprietary knowledge base.
  • Analyze and translate complex guidance from agencies, investors, and regulators into easy-to-digest, practical credit policies.
  • Monitor industry trends and daily updates from agencies (FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, etc.) to assess their impact on organizational policy.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development Team to communicate new agency and investor offerings.
  • Update and maintain the Live Updates List, credit policy calendars, and effective date logs for transparency and auditing.
  • Create and manage essential tools, including checklists, worksheets, and job aids.
  • Conduct 120-day reviews of stagnant guidelines to ensure all information remains current and accurate.
  • Lead the establishment of knowledge base sections for new investors and product rollouts (managing approximately 200+ articles per product).
  • Develop comparison matrices and document libraries to help staff navigate new program offerings.
  • Facilitate specialized training sessions on complex topics, including VA Entitlement, HECM Loans, and COVID-19 policies.
  • Review interdepartmental content (marketing flyers, training decks) to ensure alignment with posted credit guidelines.
  • Resolve technical issues within FHA Connection, such as appraisal sequencing or data inaccuracies.
  • Report all policy actions and updates via LogicGate to maintain a rigorous audit trail.
  • Generate and post daily PDF guidelines for assigned investors and agencies.
