General Position Scope: The Credit Officer is responsible for ensuring loan requests meet strong loan quality standards, comply with rules and regulations, and adhere to bank policies. While this officer will have lending authority, the individual is not considered a producer. The officer is also responsible for the administration of letters of credit and various other Credit Administration functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting preferred
  • At least 15 years of experience in lending, credit, loan review or a combination thereof, with CRE or commercial loan production experience for large, complex loans, preferable.
  • Maintains current knowledge of banking rules and regulations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of banking procedures.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, including global cash flow.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and make sound decisions.
  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent listening skills

  • Work outside of regular business hours, as deemed necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a commercial real estate or commercial credit officer preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing commercial, commercial real estate, agriculture, and any other loan packages presented by loan officers or the line of business to ensure comprehensive underwriting, proper structure, appropriate administration, prudent risk mitigation, adherence to Loan Policy, compliance with rules and regulations, and accurate overall risk assessment.
  • Prior to loan approval, this officer will discuss relevant issues with loan officers, Banking Center Presidents, Senior Lenders, and/or Line of Business Chiefs to clarify and/or resolve issues or concerns identified in their review.
  • Assist the Chief Credit Officer in the review, revision, interpretation, and application of the Loan Policy.
  • Prepare detailed credit reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Monitor existing credit portfolios, conduct periodic reviews, and observe market trends that may impact credit quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish risk thresholds and limits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assists with annual examinations/audits both internal and external.
  • Assists with training.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, procedures, and appropriate regulatory issues as related to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy Act; Fair Lending Act; Regulation E, etc. Complete required compliance training and adhere to the Bank’s standard of conduct.
  • Participation in the bank’s High-Performance Rewards Connections program by making referrals.
  • Makes referrals to the Mortgage Center and Wealth Management
  • Perform other duties as requested.
