About The Position

The Credit Manager is responsible for protecting the company’s financial position while supporting profitable growth. This role owns the end-to-end credit function, including customer credit risk assessment, accounts receivable management, new customer onboarding, and new vendor setup. The Credit Manager partners closely with Sales, Operations, Accounting, and Leadership to ensure appropriate credit controls are in place, risks are proactively identified, and cash flow objectives are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in credit management, accounts receivable, or financial risk management.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial statements, and AR best practices.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and credit reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
  • Clear, confident communicator with the ability to influence without authority
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
  • Ability to balance risk management with business growth
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment & Credit Analysis Evaluate and approve customer credit applications using financial statements, credit reports, payment history, trade references, and industry data.
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust customer credit limits and payment terms based on ongoing risk assessments.
  • Proactively identify emerging credit risks and recommend mitigation strategies (e.g., revised terms, deposits, guarantees, or credit holds).
  • Develop and maintain internal credit policies, procedures, and approval thresholds.
  • Provide clear credit recommendations to leadership, balancing risk management with sales and growth objectives.
  • Accounts Receivable Management Oversee the accounts receivable portfolio to ensure timely collection and healthy aging.
  • Monitor AR aging trends and key metrics (DSO, past due balances, credit exposure).
  • Partner with Accounting and Operations to resolve billing issues, disputes, and short-pay situations efficiently.
  • Lead collection efforts for delinquent accounts, including escalation strategies when necessary.
  • Recommend and implement collection tools or processes to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt.
  • New Customer Management Own the new customer credit onboarding process from application through approval.
  • Collaborate with Sales to set appropriate credit terms that align with customer risk profiles and company standards.
  • Ensure required documentation is collected and maintained (credit applications, tax forms, guarantees, contracts).
  • Educate internal stakeholders on approved credit terms and any special conditions.
  • Periodically review new customers during early payment cycles to validate risk assumptions.
  • New Vendor Management Review and approve new vendor setups from a credit and risk perspective.
  • Assess vendor payment terms, credit exposure, and potential financial or operational risks.
  • Partner with Procurement and Accounting to ensure vendor terms align with cash flow and working capital objectives.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure compliance with internal controls and documentation requirements.
