This position is located in beautiful Hilo, Hawaii Position Summary: The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's credit granting process. This role involves evaluating creditworthiness, establishing credit limits, managing credit risks, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining positive relationships with customers. The Credit Manager works closely with the sales, finance, and legal departments to protect the company's financial interests while supporting business growth. The Credit Manager is responsible for the prompt collection of the Company's accounts receivable. The position will concentrate on, but is not limited to, credit insurance management and maintenance, customer account reconciliation, credit meetings, credit checks, customer inquiry/dispute resolution, collection calling, negotiating payment arrangements with customers, and building and maintaining good professional relationships with each customer.

  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to ensure sound credit practices.
  • Assess credit applications, conduct thorough credit analysis and risk assessments of new and existing customers.
  • Establish credit limits and terms based on financial analysis and company policy.
  • Monitor customer account balances, payment behaviors, and aging reports.
  • Oversee the collections process to ensure timely payments and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Review and manage credit holds, disputes, and delinquencies in coordination with sales and management teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of credit approvals, documentation, and communication.
  • Prepare regular reports on credit exposure, aging analysis, and bad debt provisions for senior management.
  • Work with external credit agencies, legal counsel, and collection agencies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Lead and mentor credit and collections staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Provide audit support as needed.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
  • Support accounts receivable specialists and collection functions.
  • Attend accounting department and other company meetings as requested.
  • Assist other positions in the accounting department as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit management, credit analysis, or accounts receivable.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk evaluation, financial statement analysis, and collection practices.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer, excel spreadsheets, word documents, and other required software.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, wholesale, or seafood distribution industry.
  • Familiarity with trade credit insurance and international credit evaluation.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Good judgement, planning skills, and leadership traits.
