About The Position

The Credit Manager is responsible for managing credit operations within a specific industry or region. This role involves overseeing credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and risk management practices. The Credit Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and maintain high standards of credit quality. Activities will include credit adjudication with delegated credit authorities. This role involves leading and managing a team of Credit Solutions colleagues at various levels and points in their career, including training and coaching. The Credit Manager will manage colleagues' performance and will be responsible for developing a bench of talent at all levels. The Credit Manager also will need to proactively manage colleagues' workflows to ensure that quality and accurate work product is delivered within cycle times. The Credit Manager is expected to have knowledge of the portfolio managed by each colleague to ensure balanced workload and an understanding of to whom new clients/credits should be assigned. As part of talent management responsibilities, the Credit Manager will review periodically a sample colleagues' work product and provide feedback to colleagues. The Credit Manager will be involved in certain transactions, such as complex structures or certain new clients. On other transactions, the Credit Manager will serve as a point of escalation. The Credit Manager will be responsible for the quality and oversight of all credits within a specific industry or region, including risk appetite, and will present to the Credit Review Committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively increasing credit underwriting and portfolio management experience in relevant industry/industries
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in underwriting or credit management

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages a team of Credit colleagues of various levels, providing functional guidance, risk management coaching, and performance management.
  • Oversees credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management within the assigned industry/region/or credit line, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and risk management practices.
  • Monitors and analyzes portfolio performance, making adjustments as needed to optimize results.
  • Ensures effective risk management practices are in place, maintaining high standards of credit quality and origination in alignment with Bank’s credit risk appetite, and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Drives business growth through strategic planning, market analysis, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective credit operations to achieve the Bank’s strategic initiatives.
  • Implements credit policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Stays informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to proactively address potential impacts on the region/industry and credit operations.
  • Engages in formal and informal talent management activities to train, develop, manage, and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
