The Investment Engineering team develops Portfolio Management and Trading capabilities that support Apollo’s complex and unique strategies. Embedded with portfolio managers and traders, the group partners cross-functionally to design and deliver the infrastructure required for effective execution and investment management. We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to join our New York office, working directly with the Credit Trading Desk. This individual will collaborate with investment professionals and stakeholders to deliver scalable technology solutions. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, ensuring the business has the tools and platforms needed for efficient decision-making and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and technology, including 5+ years in trading, market technology, or other high-performance, data-intensive environments.
  • Proven record of designing, developing, and deploying production-grade trading systems that emphasize reliability, fault tolerance, and maintainability.
  • Broad exposure to trading technologies and workflows across asset classes, including market data ingestion, order management, execution, and post-trade analytics.
  • Deep expertise in transaction cost analysis (TCA), P&L attribution, risk factor modeling, and order routing, combined with a strong understanding of market structure, liquidity dynamics, and exchange protocols.
  • Practical experience implementing event-driven architectures and event sourcing to enable high-throughput, observable, and auditable systems with strong temporal consistency.
  • Strong technical foundation in microservices design, distributed systems, and data streaming platforms (e.g., Aeron, Kafka, Pulsar, or equivalent), emphasizing loose coupling, horizontal scalability, and resilience.
  • Hands-on experience with performance optimization, including profiling, asynchronous processing, caching strategies, and data pipeline tuning; ultra-low-latency experience a plus but not a requirement.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive architectural decisions, balance trade-offs between latency, throughput, and complexity, and deliver production-ready systems under evolving business requirements.
  • Collaborative, engineering-led mindset with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, mentor teams, and establish best practices in software design, testing, and observability.
