Midwest Heritage Job Title: Credit Analyst I Department: Banking FLSA: Exempt General Function: The Credit Analyst I is responsible for conducting credit analysis for less complex credits and assisting on complex credits in the Ag/Commercial Department. Position consists of gathering, analyzing and interpreting credit information for existing and prospective customers in order to assess credit quality and to minimize risk and potential loss on commercial, real estate, agricultural, non-profit and personal loans.

  • Strong detail orientation including the ability to review forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum Experience: Experience in credit administration and risk analysis preferred.
  • Formal financial analysis/credit administration training preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Abrigo Lending Software and Sageworks is preferred
  • General knowledge of Agriculture industry and farm operations is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, evaluate and assess financial statements and other related data/information including projections, sensitivity analysis, cash flow, repayment collateral, loan relationships, problem credits, etc. to determine credit worthiness of less complex credits and assist in complex credits per loan policy.
  • Assist in obtaining information from customers and preparing loan presentations to lender and/or assist with presentation to loan committee.
  • Identify risks and make recommendations to lenders regarding findings and working with customers, issues, data, etc.
  • Evaluate and monitor various industries, market trends, economic risks, and other related factors and make recommendations to lender and/or loan committee including ways to improve risk management processes
  • Prepare and present basic credit write-ups and assist in complex credits. This will include a summary of credit risks, identification of loan policy exceptions, proposed improvements to loan structure, and assessment of the loan rating.
  • Assist in imaging and maintaining the bank’s tickler (document collection) system.
