Harford Community College is seeking qualified medical assisting adjunct faculty members to teach on-campus, online, and/or hybrid classes. Candidates will be asked to validate teaching experience. A teaching demonstration will be part of the interview process. Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

  • Certification as a medical assistant.
  • A minimum of an associate's degree is highly preferred.
  • For clinical courses, a minimum of two years of experience as a medical assistant is required.
  • For billing and administrative courses, a minimum of two years of experience in medical billing and coding, including EHR.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience including clinical and/or classroom.
  • Experience with test item writing and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate student performance.
  • Experience with instructional technology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach medical assisting courses on-campus, online, and/or hybrid classes.
  • Validate teaching experience and conduct teaching demonstrations during the interview process.
  • Stay current in both discipline and teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain reasonable, distributed office hours.
  • Develop and revise curriculum.
  • Respond to student calls and handle student concerns.
  • Interact with students and potential students outside the classroom in discipline-related activities.
