About The Position

The Credentialing Technician I assists with credentialing and privileging for Clinical Staff, ensuring the safety of TCC patients by verifying that clinical staff are appropriately credentialed and privileged. The role requires adherence to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service, which emphasizes timely and effective service, as well as the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion, and empathy.

Requirements

  • One year direct experience with credentialing of clinical staff and/or closely-related role in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Two years' experience working in a health care setting preferred.
  • Experience with Alaska Native people preferred.
  • Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare credentialing standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of document retention and confidentiality requirements.
  • Extremely detail oriented and exceptional follow-through with long-term projects and tasks.
  • Sound organizational skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and prioritize accordingly.
  • Computer knowledge with ability to work with databases, document management systems, spreadsheets, and other data-driven software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the initiation, processing, monitoring, and maintenance of credentialing records for clinical staff, locum tenens, and residents as directed by the Credentialing Manager.
  • Maintain current knowledge of credentialing and accreditation policies, national standards, and best practices.
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking credentialing reporting and expiration date data.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records of Credentialing files, policies and procedures, and coordinate ongoing audits and policy reviews.
  • Assist in coordination of accreditation activities related to credentialing and privileging of healthcare providers and clinical staff members.
  • Maintain Clinical Staff Office (CSO)-related aspects of the Verge system and data spreadsheets for credentialing, privileging, and peer review activities.
  • Work with clinical staff to ensure they are properly trained and utilizing the Verge software package for re-appointment and other credentialing-related activities.
  • Participate in Health Services Committees regarding Clinical Staff Office issues when requested.
  • Maintain current knowledge of internal TCC department functions and of the external organizations with which TCC interacts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client, employee, and medical staff issues.
