About The Position

The Credentialing Assistant supports the Medical Credentialing Department in processing initial and reappointment applications for over 400 providers across the North Star Health Alliance network. This position ensures that all providers meet regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards by maintaining accurate credentialing files and assisting with the coordination of committee reviews and onboarding activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum one year of administrative experience in a healthcare or credentialing setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with MD-Staff or other credentialing databases preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and supporting team collaboration.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all phases of the credentialing and re-credentialing process for physicians, advanced practice providers, and allied health professionals.
  • Prepare and send reappointment applications through the MD-Staff credentialing software.
  • Track, collect, and verify all required documents, including licenses, certifications, malpractice coverage, DEA, and references.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider profiles within MD-Staff and other internal systems.
  • Communicate with providers, office managers, and external entities to obtain missing information or clarification.
  • Generate and distribute credentialing reports and rosters
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agency standards (e.g., Joint Commission, DNV, CMS, and NYS Department of Health).
  • Assist the Medical Credentialing Manager and department team with special projects, audits, and provider data requests.
  • Handle confidential provider information with discretion and professionalism.
