Requirements

  • A licensed CVT in Illinois (Preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in a veterinary clinical setting
  • Strong technical skills and comfort with urgent/emergent cases
  • Proficient in medical math calculations (drug dosage/unit conversion)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in emergency or urgent care environments (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based veterinary software (Preferred)
  • Interest in mentoring and leadership development (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical procedures including radiology, venipuncture, catheter placement, sedation monitoring, and laboratory testing
  • Assist in triage, patient stabilization, and urgent care treatments
  • Administer medications under veterinarian supervision
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners about care and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate medical records and support digital documentation
  • Mentor veterinary assistants and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Uphold Scout’s standards for safety, empathy, and clinical excellence
  • Monthly team meetings
