About The Position

The Credentialed Medical Assistant at Southern Ohio Medical Center plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures. This full-time position involves collecting patient data, managing medical supplies, and ensuring efficient communication within the healthcare team to meet patient needs effectively.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Credentialed Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, AMCA) required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
• Minimum one month of on-the-job training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider with patient examinations and procedures.
• Collect and document patient vitals, chief complaints, and medical history.
• Make phone calls for patient referrals and prescription requests, documenting them in patient charts.
• Organize the drug closet and maintain a drug sample log.
• Ensure clinical supplies are properly stocked.
• Review charts for upcoming appointments and pull necessary lab results.
• Log and update medication lists for patients.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and perform scanning tasks.
• Coordinate with the Surgery Department and Central Scheduling for procedure scheduling.
• Contact insurance companies for necessary authorizations and precertifications.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to manage patient care effectively.
• Perform pre-cleaning and decontamination of instruments used on patients.
• Cross-train to perform Medical Office Assistant duties as needed.
• Float to other Medical Care Foundation offices as required.
• Follow vaccine and medication management policies.
• Perform daily document imports.
• Handle electronic prescription requests and resolve errors as directed by providers.
• Assist the provider in navigating medical records and documentation during clinical services.
