About The Position

United Health Services is looking for a Credentialed Chemical Dependency Counselor to provide compassionate, structured support to individuals navigating substance use recovery. In this role, you’ll manage a caseload of patients, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, documenting progress, and coordinating discharge planning. You’ll also actively participate in staffing meetings and supervision sessions to ensure collaborative, high-quality care. Requirements

  • Associate degree in applied science in Chemical Dependency or related field; OR two (2) years’ experience working in a chemical dependency setting.
  • Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all patient interactions and treatment activities in compliance with OASAS regulations and organizational standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify individualized problems across all relevant domains, forming the foundation for treatment planning.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans that address identified issues and incorporate measurable goals aligned with patient needs.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medication-assisted treatment, including dosing protocols, withdrawal management, potential complications, and considerations for special populations such as pregnant patients.
  • Monitor and document patient progress toward treatment goals through detailed progress notes for both individual and group sessions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality requirements under OASAS, federal regulations, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Participate in regular interdisciplinary staff meetings and bi-weekly supervision sessions to review treatment plans, discuss challenging cases, and collaborate on patient care strategies.
  • Coordinate care with external providers and community resources, maintaining communication within the timeframes specified in treatment plans.
  • Stay current with best practices and regulatory changes in substance use disorder treatment to ensure high-quality, compliant care delivery.
