As a CASAC Counselor you will play a pivotal role in providing support, guidance, and treatment to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. You will work closely with the program's Medical Director to ensure compliance with OASAS and develop and implement personalized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each clients. Additionally, you will implement our vision for the program, informed by a harm reduction model, by creating a safe, welcoming environment that combines substance use treatment services with more comprehensive care options.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid and current CASAC certification in the State of New York.
  • 1 year of experience in substance abuse counseling or a related field.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities for substance use disorders, including CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • A passion for helping individuals achieve and maintain sobriety.
  • Must be a team player who is stress resistant, flexible, creative, and open to feedback; must have good time management and organizational skills; knowledge or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessment to evaluate clients' substance use, mental health, and psychosocial needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with the program's Medical Director to ensure compliance with OASAS regulations and staff development.
  • Ensure adherence to OASAS regulations and oversee timely reporting and documentation.
  • Provide individual and group counseling for clients.
  • Create a client-focused clinic environment that fosters recovery and well-being.
  • Implement the vision for the program, informed by a harm reduction model, to create a safe, welcoming environment that integrates substance use treatment with broader health and social services.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to meet their evolving needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Educate clients and their families on the nature of addiction, recovery strategies, and available resources.
