The Creative Technologies program at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach lower and/or upper division undergraduate courses, either during the academic year or Summer Session. Possible course topics include: practices and tools of digital design (including sound design, multimedia design, web-design, and animation); media studies; justice-, decolonization-, anti-racist, transgender and feminist approaches to design and media technology; histories and cultures of digital media and/or interdisciplinarity; interdisciplinary arts and design practices; creative coding; mechatronics; playable media studies and game theory; three-dimensional design; immersive reality; machine creativity and machine learning; and natural language modeling for arts and design. Creative Technologies (CT) is an online interdisciplinary arts and design major, with contributions from faculty across the Arts Division. Its curriculum synthesizes creative work with questions of ethics, equity, power, inclusion, democracy, and diversity, and lecturers applying to the program should demonstrate the relevance of their experience and qualifications to those outcomes. The program centers innovative teaching and learning environments, paired with an emphasis on emerging arts and design technologies and the active roles of artists and designers in cultivating a just and ethical society.
