IAs the Department of Creative and Professional Writing prepares to update its undergraduate degree offerings in Creative Writing, Business and Technical Writing, and Journalism and Public Relations, we seek a colleague who can contribute vision and experience in Professional Writing and contribute occasionally to our low-residency Master of Fine Arts in Creative and Professional Writing, one of the most successful graduate programs at the university. Position Summary: Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of Professional Writing courses, with priority on Managerial Writing and Technical Writing courses. Our new colleague will build interest and enrollment in the Business and Technical Writing Option; will teach occasionally in the department’s Writers’ Studio sequence; may teach courses in Public Relations, Advertising, Science Writing, and a variety of other courses in the department; will contribute to departmental discussions about possible online course/degree delivery; and may have opportunities to work with students in the MFA program. Faculty carry 12 faculty workload credits per semester but may apply for course release time for research. All tenure-track faculty currently may apply for $1,200 per year for travel to conferences and may apply for release time for research, for research grants of up to $5,000, and for faculty development grants.
