We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced coordinator to lead the Creative Pathways Program within the RI Works program. The program emphasizes building trust and fostering personal growth through consistent, arts-based interactions. Using techniques such as guided storytelling, movement, visual arts, and drama therapy, the project creates safe, supportive classroom environments where students can share their personal stories, explore identity, and develop communication, self-awareness, and advocacy skills. In addition to promoting creativity, the program prioritizes mental health and trauma-informed practices, leveraging the arts as a powerful tool for healing, resilience, and emotional well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, education, and the creative arts. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a passion for education through the arts, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and artists.

  • Develop and implement project plans for the Creative Pathways Program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and RI Works requirements.
  • Oversee all aspects of program operations, including curriculum development, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Embed trauma-informed and mental health support strategies into program planning to create safe, healing-centered environments.
  • Design and implement arts-based educational activities using storytelling, movement, visual arts, and drama therapy techniques.
  • Integrate approaches that promote emotional well-being and resilience through creative expression.
  • Oversee the creative process from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality, engaging content that supports program objectives and trauma-sensitive practices.
  • Create safe, supportive classroom environments that foster trust, identity exploration, and personal growth.
  • Apply trauma-informed principles to support students in developing communication, self-awareness, and advocacy skills through consistent arts-based interactions.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and coping strategies through creative modalities.
  • Work collaboratively with educators, artists, and mental health professionals to maintain a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with DHS staff, administrators, and community partners to ensure holistic student support.
  • Track, report, and oversee program data and performance metrics, including indicators related to student well-being and engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed for continuous improvement.
  • Complete all written work, assessments, and reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.
  • Bachelor's degree in Art or Drama therapy, Education, English, linguistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in coordination of art-based therapy, educational or creative arts setting; preferred.
  • Strong understanding of arts-based teaching methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Passion for the arts with experience in visual arts, theater, storytelling or creative writing.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations.
  • Complete all required background checks.
  • Clinical setting experience or referral processing is plus.
