About The Position

Join our team as a Full-Time Creative & Expressive Therapist I- Music Therapist! UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Creative & Expressive Therapist I- Music Therapist. This position will work Monday through Friday, daylight shifts, at our Main Hospital in Lawrenceville. This position will conduct individual and group therapy as assigned using a CEAT modality (such as art, dance/movement, drama, music, recreation, or yoga therapy) as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required with 1 year of experience providing group and/or individual therapy applicable to setting using a CEAT discipline
  • Successful completion of an accredited degree/training program in a CEAT modality such as Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy, Music Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Yoga Therapy, or a related CEAT modality.
  • The incumbent must be physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill patients as necessary, including lifting, supporting, running towards or away from areas where problems are occurring and pushing and pulling equipment such as wheelchairs, IV poles, etc.
  • Candidates must hold the minimum credentialing for their respective modality or discipline such as: Art Therapy (ATR-BC); Dance Movement Therapy (R-DMT); Drama Therapy (RDT); Music Therapy (MT-BC); Recreation Therapy (CTRS); Yoga Therapy (C-IAYT).
  • Clearances with Renewal: Act 31, 33, 34, & 73

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • MT-BC preferred (Board Certified Music Therapist)
  • Graduate internship training hours count as experience for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate C & E Arts Therapist specialty training/orientation activities as requested by C & E Arts Therapist Program Coordinator/supervisor.
  • Supervise students with oversight/support from C & E Arts Therapist Program Coordinator/supervisor.
  • Conduct individual and/or group therapy sessions effectively using a C & E Arts Therapist discipline.
  • Document in the Medical Record according to established guidelines including assessments and treatment progress notes.
  • Document training and supervision activities according to established guidelines.
  • Request and care for supplies responsibly and appropriately with consideration for the safety of the population.
  • Attend C & E Arts Therapist department meetings regularly.
  • Maintain professional certification/licensure as per CEU requirements.
  • Attend 1-3 unit based or institute wide in-services/trainings yearly.
  • Learn and use up-to-date technology and practices in delivery of patient care.
  • Maintain on-going communication with unit and C & E Arts Therapist staff.
