About The Position

Let’s be clear up front: this is not a “big idea only” role. We’re looking for a creative leader who still loves making the work. Someone who can set the bar, but also clears it themselves. A practical creative. A builder. A coach. A Swiss Army knife with taste. Pritchard is a multi-generation, 113-year-old family business with newer, younger brands inside it. That means real opportunity. Real autonomy. And real responsibility to raise the quality of everything we put into the world. The role You’ll be the creative standard-bearer across the company. You’ll own art direction, visual quality, and design output across brands that span automotive, custom builds, and emerging ventures. You will mentor designers, collaborate closely with video and copy, and roll up your sleeves when the work needs doing. Some days you’re leading. Some days you’re teaching. Some days you’re in Figma fixing things yourself. That’s the job. You don’t need to live in Iowa, but you do need to be present. Travel is part of the deal. Being accessible matters.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, but not allergic to decisions.
  • Entrepreneurial. You see gaps and fill them without waiting for permission.
  • Coachable. You’re confident, not precious.
  • A natural mentor who raises the people around them.
  • Practical. You understand deadlines, trade-off s, and how work actually ships.
  • Curious about brands with history and hungry to help write their next chapter.
  • Strong art direction and visual judgment across brand, campaign, and content.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Figma and modern collaborative design workflows.
  • Comfort with motion fundamentals and designing for video, even if not executing everything yourself.
  • Excellent taste in typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
  • Ability to give clear creative direction and practical feedback.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, deadlines, and real-world constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain the creative bar across all visual output.
  • Lead art direction for campaigns, content, and brand systems.
  • Design when needed. Direct when possible. Fix when required.
  • Mentor designers and creatives with clarity and generosity.
  • Collaborate tightly with video, copy, and leadership.
  • Help turn a fragmented creative machine into something intentional and repeatable.
