About The Position

The Creative & Digital Content Manager serves as a key leader within the Office of Communications, helping to shape and execute digital and visual communications strategies. This position oversees the planning, creation, and distribution of high-quality graphic design, social media content, website updates, video, photography, and podcasts that advance the mission of the Diocese of Jefferson City. The manager both produces content directly and coordinates projects with staff, parishes, schools, and vendors, functioning as a primary day-to-day partner and backup to the Executive Director of Communications. Evening and weekend work is occasionally required to cover diocesan events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, digital media, marketing, or related field; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in several of the following: graphic design, social media management, website content administration, video production, photography, and audio/podcast production.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Audition, Lightroom) or comparable applications.
  • Strong visual storytelling skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates creative design, compelling photo/video work, and effective use of social media.
  • Experience managing organizational social media channels and websites, including use of content management systems and scheduling/analytics tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, pastoral mindset with the ability to work effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and respect for the teachings, mission, and sacramental life of the Catholic Church; practicing Catholic in good standing strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within the Diocese and work occasional evenings and weekends to cover events.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Communications to develop and implement annual digital content plans, and campaign strategies across web, social, email, print and multimedia channels.
  • Serves as day-to-day lead for digital media projects, from intake and prioritization through production, review, and publication.
  • Provides creative direction, templates, and brand guidance for parish and school collaborators; reviews selected materials for consistency with diocesan visual identity and messaging.
  • Helps monitor analytics for website, social media, and key digital campaigns, offering recommendations for continual improvement in reach, engagement, and evangelization impact.
  • In the absence of the Executive Director of Communications, provides continuity for routine digital communications decisions and coordinates with other diocesan offices as needed.
  • Designs engaging graphics, layouts, and visual assets for web, social media, email, print, and diocesan campaigns, aligned with diocesan brand standards.
  • Develops and maintains a library of branded templates (social posts, flyers, presentations, event collateral) that can be adapted by parishes, schools, and ministries.
  • Assists in ongoing refinement of diocesan visual identity guidelines and ensures their consistent application across platforms and ministries.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for contracted vendors for creative services.
  • Manages diocesan social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn), including content planning, posting, moderation, and basic community engagement.
  • Plans and executes social media campaigns that support diocesan priorities, events, pastoral letters, and evangelization initiatives.
  • Serves as primary content administrator for the diocesan website, updating pages, posting news and events, and ensuring timely, accurate information.
  • Collaborates with IT/web vendors as needed on navigation, layout, accessibility, and basic SEO to improve usability and engagement.
  • Coordinates web content requests from diocesan offices, helping them shape messages and visuals consistent with diocesan standards.
  • Serves as primary liaison with contracted vendors on multimedia projects.
  • In conjunction with vendors, films and edits short- and long-form video content, including event coverage, testimonies, pastoral messages, educational content, and promotional campaigns.
  • Captures photography at diocesan liturgies, events, and ministry activities; coordinates with others to ensure coverage when multiple events occur.
  • Manages digital media archives (photo and video libraries), including tagging, organizing, and providing assets to internal partners and parishes as appropriate.
  • Produces diocesan podcasts, including planning episodes, scheduling and preparing guests, recording, editing, and publishing to selected platforms.
  • Provides support and oversees livestreaming, recording and audio support for key events (e.g., diocesan masses and ministry events, interviews, etc.)
  • Maintains gear inventory and equipment maintenance.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director of Communications, works closely with diocesan offices, parishes, schools, and ministries to understand their communication needs and translate them into effective digital content.
  • Provides occasional training or resource sessions (in-person or virtual) on topics such as branding, social media basics, photo/video tips, and simple design tools.
  • Supports crisis or urgent communication needs by producing and updating digital content under the direction of the Executive Director of Communications.
  • Performs other communications-related duties as assigned in support of the bishop and diocesan mission.
