About The Position

A Creative Career Management Intern for Creative Career Services (CCS) prepares and assists the student population to ensure they are career ready upon graduation. The Creative Career Management Intern works with students and new alumni through 1:1 advising, group presentations (small and large groups), collaboration with Herberger Institute and EOSS departments, and the career services team. The intern will have meaningful career & internship exploration conversations in small & large group settings, as well as one-on-one advising, and will develop unique resources for students and alumni interested in a creative industry. The ideal candidate has exemplary communication skills, the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, is prompt with their follow-through, appreciates and works well in innovative, diverse and evolving environments, and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. This Internship program is a short term-position of a 12-month experience or less, with an additional one-year extension potentially offered contingent upon an annual review. The candidate is required to be enrolled in a Graduate Program during the duration of employment, and continuation of employment will be based on enrollment in a Graduate Program. The anticipated start for this position is July 2026.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Currently enrolled (or starting in Fall 2026) in a Master’s program at ASU
  • Exemplary communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience presenting to large or small groups on a variety of topics
  • Experience mentoring students 1:1 or in small groups
  • Experience effectively working with people in varying sizes and modalities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and database management systems.
  • Can effectively demonstrate knowledge of specific applications such as: Outlook, PowerPoint, Google Drive
  • Experience in work that requires attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in prioritizing varied workload and meeting multiple, overlapping deadlines
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience canvassing data and benchmarking efforts

Responsibilities

  • Engage college partners including The Design School, School of Art, School of Music, Dance, and Theatre, The Sidney Poitier New American Film School, ASU FIDM, and The GAME School.
  • Serve as a representative and advocate to campus and community partners.
  • Process and track internship approvals, monitor student progress, conduct outreach for missing requirements, and prepare students for enrollment using systems such as Salesforce, Workday, 12Twenty, and Google Workspace.
  • Engage with diverse students and new alumni on a regular basis, both in-person and in virtual settings (such as hosting workshops, webinars, conducting virtual 1:1 advising, and online chats).
  • Advise students on writing resumes, preparing job and internship search materials, developing a professional digital portfolio, managing social media professional presence, networking, developing interview skills and application materials.
  • Advise students and recent graduates regarding their interests, values, skills and qualifications needed for career decision making, effective internship and/or job search, and applying to graduate programs.
  • Regularly deliver career and professional development presentations and workshops, in both small and large settings, to ASU classes, student clubs, professional organizations, and the community.
  • Oversee and manage the Creative Career Services Resources and focus on trends and implement new tools for Career Education within the Creative Career Services Portfolio.
  • Oversee and manage drop-in career advising sessions.
  • Support department and university-wide initiatives.
  • Assist Creative Career Services with communication and administrative tasks, such as calendar management.
  • Regularly record and report on data related to appointments, event participation, student assessments, and other position responsibilities.
  • Support professional staff with campus partner and EOSS events and programming needs.
  • Assist with division wide, and ASU, initiatives such as Fall Welcome, Family Weekend and Homecoming.
  • Support College wide opportunities such as HIDA Day, College Welcome, and Graduation.
