Position Summary The Crane Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic, electric, and mechanical crane systems on over 100 cranes. This role ensures cranes operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical components
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and safety awareness
  • High school diploma or GED required, technical or trade school preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with cranes, hydraulics, or heavy equipment (preferred)
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in varying positions for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in shop and outdoor environments
  • Mobility and dexterity to move around operating machinery and powered industrial equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with heavy manufacturing equipment and cranes
  • Welding or fabrication experience (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and repair hydraulic, electric, and mechanical crane systems: JIB Cranes, Bridge Cranes, Under Hung and Top-side Cranes
  • Work with different crane brands: Gorbel, Shawbrook and other brands
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on cranes and related equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
  • Read and interpret schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Test crane functionality after repairs or installations to ensure safe operation
  • Identify worn or damaged components and recommend repairs or replacements
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA, ANSI, and company safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
