Stephenson Equipment, Inc (SEI), an industry leader in Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC and New York providing sales, rentals, parts and service for construction equipment, cranes, paving, road building and road maintenance equipment, has an immediate need for Crane Shop Technician at our Harrisburg , PA location. Duties include, but are not limited to: Repair and replace damaged or worn parts Operate and inspect cranes in order to diagnose defects Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices Dismantle and reassemble cranes using hoists and hand tools Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on cranes Comply with all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges Schedule maintenance for cranes and keep equipment service records Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using controls and regulating devices Effectively communicate and actively participate within a goal-orientated team environment Actively participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities Maintain a clean and organized work area Total Compensation Includes: Competitive Pay Factory Training Tool Allowance Full Benefits Package 401k with Matching Paid Time Off Requirements The best fit to our team will have: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Most work is performed in a garage environment with moderate to loud noise levels. Temperatures vary from season to season. Job requires extended periods of standing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching depending on the machine that needs maintenance within the 8-10 hour work day. Technicians need the ability to lift at least 50lbs with an occasional lift of up to 100lbs with assistance of a crane.
