About The Position

The Foreman supervises and coordinates craft workers to ensure all tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role requires strong knowledge of technical installation requirements—including drawings, specs, and procedures—as well as hands‑on experience in rigging, signaling, and the safe movement of loads using cables, ropes, pulleys, cranes, and lifting devices. The Foreman selects and attaches rigging equipment, directs crane operations, inspects and repairs boiler system components, and ensures compliance with safety rules and work procedures. Success in this position requires strong problem‑solving skills, good communication, reliable transportation, proficiency with industrial tools, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Must have basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction.
  • Must be able to use problem-solving skills and critical thinking to resolve and identify issues, including safety risks.
  • Must know proper hand signals to communicate with equipment operator.
  • Must have knowledge regarding lift planning including but not limited to the equipment to use, load capacities of equipment and lifting equipment.
  • Must hold an NCCER or NCCCO certification for Rigging (or have previous Zachry ETS Signal Person Training)
  • Must have basic transportation knowledge in regards to moving equipment and loads from one location to another.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic required planning for a lift.
  • Must be willing to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates the activity with craft workers to ensure that work is done safely, correctly and in a timely manner
  • Use knowledge and understanding of the technical installation requirements for the work under his/her supervision, to include drawings, specifications, procedures, and codes
  • Follows direction from supervisor
  • Must have experience in rigging
  • Must be able to obtain Zachry ETS signaling certification.
  • Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved
  • Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps
  • Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook
  • Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material
  • Inspect and repair all components of boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment
  • Follow direction from Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
