About The Position

This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and plays a critical role as a subject matter expert in crane operations. The primary responsibility is the safe and efficient operation of all crane types within the plant. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, integrity, and teamwork while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Success in this role requires clear communication, proactive reporting of any safety or production concerns, and a dedication to continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively with plant employees, supervisors, management and customers.
  • Ability to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines.
  • Must also be able to work through problem with the minimum amount of assistance from the lead person or supervisor.
  • Ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • More than one year of general labor experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in working with steel or in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Responsibilities

  • Follows all safety protocols and procedures in a safety-sensitive environment
  • Conducts pre-lift crane inspections
  • Performs monthly safety contact card audits
  • Practices good daily housekeeping
  • Uses proper lifting techniques ensuring safe movement of raw materials and pole sections
  • Ability to become certified to operate all plant cranes after required training
  • Prepare for lifts by identifying and marking the center of gravity (COG)
  • Ability to operate overhead double-hoist, single-hoist cranes to lift, transport, and position pole sections to assembly stands or jigs as needed
  • Review and interpret product data sheets for part numbers and assembly requirements
  • Understand how data sheet information affects the next steps in the process
  • Determine appropriate location for processed parts (e.g., west side rack, middle seamer, or west bay transfer rack)
  • Use basic hand tools and tape measures to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor equipment and report issues promptly
  • Record data accurately for quality tracking and reporting
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management
