We’re committed to being your Company of Choice® JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Company’s marine cranes including knuckle, lattice, boxed, and telescopic boom-type cranes for subsea, offshore, marine and port operations. JOB DESCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY 1. The Crane Operator possess and demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of crane specifications and capabilities including load charts, crane ratings and operational performance characteristics and limitations in a marine offshore environment that should include crane operations in an active-heave compensation (AHC) mode. 2. Possess and demonstrate a strong technical and operational knowledge of lifting operations including experience and participation as a Lifting Team member in various roles and responsibilities; including lifting categories such as engineered lifts, routing and non-routine lifting plans; and including operational planning including risk assessments, hazard identification, job safety, equipment selection and personnel requirements. 3. Possess and demonstrate a strong technical and working knowledge of wire ropes including type, construction, grade and performance characteristics in addition to demonstrated knowledge of wire rope integrity management that includes wire rope maintenance, inspection, examination, testing and discard criteria. 4. Possess a strong technical and working knowledge of lifting equipment and gear used in marine offshore operations that includes rigging (wire rope and synthetic), slings, shackles, spreader bars, personnel baskets, pad eyes, sockets, load cells, link plates, blocks, hooks and tackle. 5. Possess and demonstrate a strong technical and working knowledge of crane and wire rope maintenance and inspections including the direct participation in the Company’s maintenance management system that consists of Pre-Use, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual, Quinquennial and other inspection intervals, as required, and also includes the documentation of deficiencies and corrective actions related to cranes, lifting equipment and their components. The Crane Operator shall be responsible for the performance and successful completion of all assigned preventive maintenance tasks or activities with the assistance of the vessel crew, company personnel and/or third-party contractors/inspectors that may be assigned to the task. 6. Possess a strong understanding and demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance for marine offshore cranes that includes marine classifications societies such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Lloyd’s Register, DNV-GL and industry specifications, standards and guidelines such as the American Petroleum Institute (API), International Standards Organization (ISO), International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and other industry related organizations. 7. Possess and demonstrate the ability to completely and accurately maintain record keeping documentation including crane log books, lifting records, inspection checklists and other associated documentation as required by the Company. 8. Possess and demonstrate the ability to actively participate in marine vessel activities and duties associated with offshore operations that include fire drills, man-overboard drills, emergency drills, tool-box talks, job safety analysis, hazard identification, safety meetings, fire watch, handling supplies, stocking stores, seakeeping for stowage and tiedown of materials and equipment, general housekeeping and sanitary duties in assigned work areas, inventory management, support and storage for crane equipment, spare parts and associated lifting gear. 9. All other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Valid TWIC card
  • Valid State Issued Driver’s License
  • Valid Crane Operators License issued by a recognized industry authority, such as API or similar.
  • Valid Rigger’s Certificate issued by a recognized industry authority, such as API or similar.
  • Minimum two years’ experience operating marine offshore, subsea and/or knuckle boom cranes.
  • Training certificate issued by a crane original equipment manufacturer, such as Huisman, MacGregor or NOV.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Passport is highly preferred
  • Past experience in operating offshore gangways.
  • Agreeable to occasional requirement to crew change by helicopter and maintain a valid OPITO BOSIET credential.
