About The Position

Duties and responsibilities Operate cranes, including mobile, tower, and overhead cranes, to lift and move materials or equipment safely and efficiently. Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed, direction, and height of movements according to job specifications. Attach, move, and position loads using rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, and chains. Assess weight, size, and characteristics of loads to determine safe lifting procedures. Communicate with riggers, signal persons, and other team members to coordinate lifting and movement tasks. Monitor load movement to ensure loads are stable, balanced, and secure. Perform pre-operational inspections of cranes, including checking cables, booms, controls, and safety devices to ensure they are in good working condition. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including OSHA standards and company-specific safety procedures. Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations or equipment malfunctions Conduct routine maintenance on cranes, such as lubricating parts, refilling fluids, and replacing worn components. Report any defects, damages, or irregularities in crane operation to the Site Supervisor or Maintenance Department. Keep accurate records of crane operations, including maintenance logs, load charts, and inspection reports. Maintain up-to-date certifications and licenses required for crane operation. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to crane operation and load handling. Work closely with site supervisors, riggers, and other crew members to ensure smooth and coordinated lifting operations. Communicate effectively using hand signals, radios, or other communication tools to guide crane movements. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor, which are consistent with the overall role and organizational objectives. Critical Demands Balance and strength to climb in and out of cranes. Repetitive forward bending, rotation of the trunk, and flexing of the hips and the knees. Lifting no greater than 50 lbs. from floor to 6 ft. work surface unassisted. Repetitive upper extremity movements while operating equipment. Sustained lifting 25-35 lbs. at arm’s reach above head. Working Conditions Work is outdoors. There is no air conditioning or heating. Uneven surfaces throughout job site, with sand, limestone, concrete, and railways outside, as well as concrete and railways inside. Numerous trip hazards throughout.
