About The Position

The Crane Operator position at TNT Crane & Rigging involves ensuring safety and efficiency in crane operations while maintaining a strong customer focus. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and environmental policies, as well as effective communication and teamwork. Operators will be responsible for preparing equipment, completing necessary documentation, and assisting in training others in safe crane operation.

Requirements

  • Must have a current state issued Commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • Must have a current crane operating license (NCCCO or NCCER).
  • 3 or more years of operating hydraulic cranes required.
  • Ability to operate crane by viewing hand signals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions and safety regulations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Review next day job assignments and prepare necessary rigging and equipment before the end of the shift.
  • Complete Field Ticket and submit it to the local branch office.
  • Record any additional chargeable equipment used on the job in the Field Ticket.
  • Maintain a daily payroll book with hours worked, reporting to the local branch office by 10:00 a.m. every Monday.
  • If not on a job assignment, inform the supervisor and perform inspections, cleaning, and maintenance on equipment.
  • Promptly carry and respond to phone/pagers.
  • Assist in training others on safe crane operation.
  • Periodically review service and operation manuals for assigned cranes and other models.
  • Clean, inspect, and reorganize equipment in the shop and yard.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the shop, including washing racks and the break room.
  • Read, interpret, and calculate load percentages using crane load charts and operation manuals.
  • Program the crane's computer for proper set-up mode and safely set up the crane on location.
  • Ensure the signal person understands and performs proper hand signals before lifting loads.
  • Perform proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of loads.
  • Inspect crane, truck, and/or trailer and complete vehicle inspection reports before operation.
  • Submit inspection reports to the local branch office.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
