About The Position

The Overhead Crane Operator at Weyerhaeuser's Dodson Lumber mill is responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery, including a JC40 Crane, Taylor 900 Forklift, and Log Loader. This full-time position is part of the night shift team and requires a safety-conscious individual with strong communication skills who can work effectively in a team environment. The role involves monitoring the log yard, unloading logs from trucks, and ensuring a safe working area beneath the crane.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years working as a crane operator in an industrial environment
• Experience with equipment inspection
• Ability to climb 71 steps up a vertical ladder to the 85-foot-high crane cab
• Ability to count and track inventory of logs
• Visual depth perception necessary for remote unloading of log trucks
• Ability to be alert at all times and assure the area beneath the crane is free and clear of pedestrian traffic
• Resume detailing education and work experience required

Responsibilities

• Operate a JC40 Crane equipped with grapples from a control room
• Operate a Taylor 900 Forklift
• Operate a Log Loader
• Unload logs from trucks and stack logs
• Move logs from the circular deck pattern and place logs on the log deck
• Monitor log yard for traffic, pedestrians, and obstacles
