About The Position

The position involves operating a crane safely in accordance with established safety guidelines and regulations. The operator is responsible for conducting daily maintenance inspections of the crane at the start of each shift, ensuring that the equipment is in good working condition. The role also includes retrieving materials from storage to load onto processing equipment, trucks, or rail cars, as well as unloading inbound materials from trucks and rail cars. Additionally, the operator will be required to move heavy materials for warehouse personnel and parts cleaners.

Requirements

• Have vision of at least 20/30 Snellen in one eye, and 20/50 Snellen in the other, with or without corrective lenses.
• Be able to distinguish colors, regardless of position of colors, if color differentiation is required for operation.
• Hearing, with or without hearing aid, must be adequate for a specific operation.
• Have sufficient strength, endurance, agility, coordination, and speed of reaction to meet the demands of equipment operation.
• Evidence of physical defects, or emotional instability that could render a hazard to the operator or others, or which in the opinion of the examiner could interfere with the operator's performance, may be cause for disqualification.
• Evidence that an operator is subject to seizures or loss of physical control shall be reason for disqualification.

Responsibilities

• Operates crane in a safe manner according to safety guidelines and regulations.
• Conducts daily crane maintenance inspection each day at the start of the shift.
• Retrieves material from storage to load onto processing equipment, trucks, or rail cars.
• Unloads inbound material from trucks and rail cars.
• Moves heavy materials for warehouseman and parts cleaners.
• Maintains housekeeping.
• Monitors work area.
• Demonstrates ability and accepts responsibility to perform other duties assigned by the foreman as necessary to complete the shift.
