About The Position

This position is accountable for supporting field operations at marine locations for Russell Marine, LLC. Employees operate a variety of equipment and trucks in the construction or repair of marine terminals, dock facilities. Typically, they will work closely with the Foreman, Pile Drivers, Welders, Laborers, and other skilled or semi-skilled craft workers. Works as assigned by the Lead Mechanic to ensure equipment maintenance and repairs are completed. Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, or overhauls mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, and conveyors used in heavy civil marine construction. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Direct CRANE mechanic experience is REQUIRED.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience required in Heavy Equipment and/or Crane maintenance and repair.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • TWIC preferred (must be able to obtain if hired).
  • Marine/Railroad/Construction industry experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
  • Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records.
  • Read and understand operating and technical drawings.
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears.
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvents or immersing them in tanks of solvent.
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
  • Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Responsible and accountable for employee's own personal safety, as well as any others employee comes in contact with.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed.
