As a Rigging Specialist at Barnhart, you will be responsible for assembling and installing supporting structures, rigging, hoist, and pulling gear. Your role will involve attaching loads to rigging to provide support or prepare for moving using hand and power tools. You will connect pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts, shackles, and clamps, and clean and dress machine and surfaces of component parts. Additionally, you will control the movements of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, dismantle, maintain, and store rigging equipment, and manipulate rigging lines and hoists to move or support materials such as steel and concrete. You will select gear, shackles, and cables according to load size, facilities, and work schedule, and signal or give verbal directions to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials. Testing rigging to ensure safety and reliability before engaging in hoisting or lifting is also a critical part of your responsibilities. Supervisory responsibilities include the ability to respectfully confront people when needed and lead by example. You must pass a drug test, fit for duty test, and background check.
