About The Position

The position involves overseeing the day-to-day work performance of crane operators and riggers, promoting a compliant work environment, and ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. The role requires motivating direct reports, providing on-the-job training, and maintaining effective communication within the team. Responsibilities also include monitoring timekeeping, providing feedback to management, and ensuring good housekeeping practices at workstations.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience as a crane operator/rigger, preferably in a shipyard environment.
• Familiarity with operation and safe uses of transporters.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and ASME regulations and standards concerning crane operating and rigging.
• Good people management skills.
• Computer skills (especially Outlook and Excel) preferred.
• Must meet physical requirements for crane operators specified in the ASME B30.2 standard.
• Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.
• Willingness to work any assigned shift and overtime when required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Promote a compliant work environment concerning hazard/loss control, environmental responsibilities, and security and health concerns.
• Oversee the day-to-day work performance of crane operators and riggers.
• Motivate direct reports and maintain a high level of morale.
• Provide continuous on-the-job training for all subordinates.
• Monitor timekeeping and verify labor charges.
• Encourage effective communication and flexibility within the team.
• Provide feedback to the Crane/Rigging Manager and Foremen on performance and recruitment requirements.
• Ensure good housekeeping and control of rigging material and tools at work stations.
• Set and monitor time goals for all tasks.
