About The Position

As part of the manufacturing team, the Rough Mill Woodworker utilizes saws and jointers to fabricate and supply rough cut parts, squares and panels for all workcenters. This role also includes working in our laminating area to provide laminated bendings to our assembly workcenters.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with woodworking tools such as jointers, jump saws and forklifts
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented production environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Board Matching & Jointing
  • Selecting boards that match grain patterns and color to ensure uniformity across each panel
  • Joint the edges of boards to ensure the boards are straight and square to ensure glue joints are tight
  • Inspect surfaces and pieces to ensure they meet Thos. Moser’s standards for craftsmanship and appearance.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Utilizing saws to cut boards to length and rip them to width
  • Provide rough dimensioned lumber to the assembly workcenters and to our CNC Routers
  • Desire to do quality work with great attention to detail
  • Maintain a clean work area that helps ensure safe work practices and further supports a professional work environment and high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in other departments or areas of the plant as needed, based on the mix of furniture being sold.
  • Comfort with the use of a forklift to move lifts of lumber from inventory to production
