Mercer County Community College (MCCC) is seeking a skilled Craftsman - HVAC to join our Facilities Department. This full-time position is essential for maintaining the comfort and safety of our campuses located in West Windsor and Trenton, NJ. The Craftsman will be responsible for diagnosing, installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment. The role requires a proactive approach to service, ensuring that all work orders are completed in a timely manner and that customer-focused service is provided to all stakeholders. The successful candidate will perform regular preventative maintenance and inspections to mitigate potential issues, ensuring the HVAC systems operate efficiently. This includes using written and verbal work orders to initiate work, reporting malfunctions or safety hazards, and acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the College's HVAC systems through inspections and document analysis. The Craftsman will also assist with the maintenance and calibration of building automation and energy management systems, responding to heating and cooling issues as they arise. In addition to technical skills, the Craftsman will be expected to provide guidance and support to other trades personnel, monitor HVAC systems, and maintain an inventory of necessary parts. The position requires a commitment to ongoing education and professional development to stay current with industry standards and best practices. The Craftsman will also be required to respond to campus emergencies, both during regular hours and after hours, ensuring the safety and comfort of all campus occupants. This role does not include supervisory responsibilities, but it is critical to the overall operation and maintenance of the College's facilities. The working conditions may vary, requiring outdoor work in different temperatures and environments, and the physical demands of the job include lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
